One day after proposing new service to Istanbul, Air Canada has signed a reciprocal codesharing agreement with Turkish Airlines.

The agreement between the Star Alliance partners will allow Air Canada's passengers to connect in Istanbul on Turkish flights to Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East. In return, Turkish passengers can connect on flights in Air Canada's domestic network and to the USA.

The agreement will take effect in the second quarter of 2013.

Air Canada plans to launch service to Istanbul from Toronto in early June.
