Air Cargo Germany (ACG) will add two Boeing 747-400 Extended Range Freighters (ERF) equipped with nose loaders to its existing fleet of four Boeing 747-400s.
The two 747-400ERFs will come from AirBridge Cargo, which holds a 49% stake in ACG. The delivery is expected to be completed in October, subject to certification by German aviation authority Luftfahrt-Bundesamt.
ACG will be able to offer nonstop flights between Germany and Mexico after taking delivery of the new freighters. It will also be able to carry outsized, very heavy or voluminous shipments.
The company plans to return two of its existing 747-400SFs to lessor Martinair in 2013, before subsequently replacing them with either newer 747-400Fs or 747-400ERFs.
