Air China and Virgin America are in talks regarding an interline agreement, as the Chinese carrier seeks to expand its network of partners in the USA.

Chi Zhihang, vice president and general manager for North America at Air China, says that a partnership with the California-based low-cost carrier is on the "verge" of being signed, at the Boyd Group International Aviation Forecast Summit in Dallas today.

Air China has interline agreements with Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue Airways as well as codeshares with its Star alliance partners United Airlines and US Airways.

The Beijing-based carrier wants to expand its network of codeshares and partnerships to "everybody" that it can within the rules of Star, says Zhihang.
