Air China passenger traffic up 2.8% in September

Chinese flag carrier Air China posted 2.8% growth in passenger traffic as measured in RPKs for September, compared with the same month last year.

The carrier's international and domestic passenger traffic increased by 1% and by 4% respectively.

The airline carried 4.28 million passengers in September, an increase of 1.8% year on year. Its passenger numbers grew by 2.8% to 3.56 million on domestic routes and decreased by 3.9% year on year to 572,000 on international routes.

Air China's overall passenger capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 4.1%. The airline says capacity on its domestic and international routes increased by 6.8% and by 0.6% respectively.

The overall passenger load factor for the month fell by 1 percentage point to 81.8%.

The airline's cargo capacity, as measured in available freight tonne kilometres, rose by 3.5% and its cargo load factor rose by 4 percentage points to 61.6%.
