Air China passenger traffic up 4.3% in August

Chinese flag carrier Air China posted 4.3% growth in passenger traffic in August, as measured in RPKs, compared with the same month last year.

International and domestic passenger traffic increased by 9.8% and 1.6% respectively.

The airline carried 4.68 million passengers in August, a rise of 1.9% year on year. Its passenger numbers grew by 1.3% to 3.85 million on domestic routes and by 6.5% to 670,000 on international routes.

Air China's overall passenger capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 6.8%. The airline says that its domestic and international capacity increased by 5.7% and 9.5% respectively.

The airline's passenger load factor for the month fell by 1.9 percentage points to 84.2%.

Its revenue freight tonne kilometres (RFTK) increased by 10.6%, while freight carried grew by 10.3% to 102,000t.

The airline's cargo capacity, as measured in available freight tonne kilometres (AFTK), rose by 8.4%, and its cargo load factor climbed by 1.2 percentage points to 59%.
