Spanish carrier Air Europa is in the market to sell and leaseback more Boeing 737-800s from its orderbook, according to a source.
The carrier has five new deliveries scheduled in 2013 and has approached operating lessors and financial institutions for sale and leaseback transactions.
Air Europa has 18 737-800s in its fleet. It took three new aircraft with winglets earlier this year under a 12-year sale and leaseback transaction with MC Aviation Partners (MCAP).
MCAP also provided pre-delivery payment financing to the carrier, in a transaction MCAP says "assists to promote" the lessor's "competitive edge under this turmoil in financial markets" by offering comprehensive financing to its customers.
According to Flightglobal's Ascend Online database, Air Europa has 19 737-800s in its fleet. The Spanish carrier also has another 19 on firm orders.
