Air France-KLM has extended its co-operation with Etihad Airways in order to open a cargo station in Abu Dhabi.

The SkyTeam carrier's Martinair Cargo division will fly Boeing 747 freighters twice-weekly between Amsterdam and Abu Dhabi, and, via Etihad's network, onwards to destinations in Asia, including India, and Australia.

In February, Etihad agreed to wet-lease a Boeing 747-400ERF freighter from Martinair Cargo.

Etihad and Air France-KLM struck a codeshare deal in October 2012.

KLM operates Airbus A330 passenger jet to Abu Dhabi at twice-daily frequency.
