Air France-KLM has reportedly reached an agreement to invest in Alitalia, following its rescue by investment consortium Compagnia Aerea Italiana.

An unsourced report in a Milanese financial journal suggests an agreement was achieved on 23 December and that a contract could be signed between 8 and 12 January.

Air France-KLM would acquire 25% of Alitalia under an agreement worth 310 million ($434 million).

Investor CAI, which is acquiring the assets of the Italian flag-carrier, is in the process of selecting a strategic partner ahead of formally relaunching the airline on 13 January.
