Air France-KLM traffic up 2.3% in April

Air France-KLM passenger traffic was up 2.3%, as measured in RPKs, in April compared with the same period a year ago.

The group lifted capacity at a slightly higher rate, 2.9%, leading to load factor slipping 0.4 percentage points to 82.8%. The group carried 6.6 million passengers, up 1.9% year on year.

The strongest growth came from Asia, Air France-KLM says, with both traffic and capacity increased 8.2% and 8.8% respectively, while load factor fell 0.4 percentage points to 84.9%.

Passenger traffic in the Americas increased 3.2% on capacity raised 4.3%, leading to a 1 percentage point decline in load factor to 87%.

Traffic in Europe grew 0.8% on 0.5% more capacity. The load factor stood at 76.4%, up by 0.3 percentage points year on year.

Air France-KLM's cargo traffic fell 4.6% on capacity reductions of 5%. The load factor rose by 0.3 percentage points to 64.4%.
