Air France-KLM traffic up nearly 5% in May

Air France-KLM's May passenger traffic increased 4.7% year-on-year.

Capacity rose 3.5%, and load factor, at 81.7%, was up by 0.9 percentage points.

The group carried 6.8 million passengers, a rise of 3.9%.

On the Africa and Middle East network, revenue passenger-kilometres and capacity grew by 6.7% and 8.5% respectively. But load factor fell 1.2 percentage points to 74%.

Passenger traffic in the Asia increased 5.3% as capacity climbed 6% and load factor kinked down 0.6 percentage points to 81.4%.

In the Americas, traffic growth, at 4.5%, outstripped a 3.4% rise in capacity. Load factor, at 87.6%, was up 0.9 percentage points.

European traffic growth, at 3.5%, came despite capacity falling 1.7%. Hence the load factor, at 78.1%, was up by 3.9 percentage points.

For Air France-KLM's cargo business, there was a 6.4% decline in traffic. Capacity fell 3.5% and load factor decreased 1.9 percentage points to 62.3%.
