Air India has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the long-term financing of up to three spare engines for its Airbus A320 fleet.

The RFP calls for up to $34 million in financing for a minimum 60-month tenure to cover the acquisition of three CFM International engines - two CFM56-5B3s and one CFM56-5B6 - with quick engine change kit.

The loan will not have a government guarantee, and the airline will have the option to finance up to another two CFM engines to be delivered over the next 12 months under the same terms, Air India adds.

The tender will close on 30 May.
