Air Malta has signed a sublease agreement on an Airbus A319 aircraft to Atlantic Airways of the Faroe Islands for a period of 41 months.
The 2004-vintage aircraft was previously operated by OLT Express, says Air Malta. According to Flightglobal's Ascend online database, the aircraft is leased by Air Malta from operating lessor Macquarie AirFinance through in October 2017.
The aircraft will join Atlantic Airways' four-aircraft fleet in early May and will operate from its base at Vágar Airport to airports in Denmark, UK, Spain, Norway and Iceland as well as other tourist destinations that will be added on by the airline.
With this lease, Air Malta will operate 10 aircraft, allowing it to meet the capacity requirements under the terms of its restructuring plan approved by the European Commission.
