Air New Zealand passenger traffic up 4.2% in August

Air New Zealand (ANZ) has posted a 4.2% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic for August, as measured in RPKs.

The airline's short-haul RPKs rose by 3.1%, while long-haul RPKs grew by 5.2%, compared with the corresponding month last year.

Total passengers carried by ANZ declined by 2.9% to 975,000. Short-haul passenger numbers fell by 3.8% to 860,000, while long-haul passenger numbers grew by 4.2% to 116,000.

Total capacity, as measured by ASKs, increased by 4.6% year on year, with a rise of 6.2% in short-haul capacity and 3.2% in long-haul capacity.

The carrier's overall passenger load factor fell by 0.3 percentage points to 81.6%.

ANZ's short-haul passenger load factor decreased by 2.4 percentage points to 80.5%, while the carrier's long-haul passenger load factor increased by 1.6 percentage points to 82.6%.
