Air New Zealand plans to launch a daily Paraparaumu-Christchurch service in November, operated by its subsidiary Air Nelson.
The new service will provide more than 36,000 direct seats a year between the Kapiti Coast and Canterbury regions, where Paraparaumu and Christchurch are respectively located.
"110,000 people live within Kapiti Coast Airport's catchment area and market research has demonstrated clear demand for additional connections from Kapiti Coast Airport," says Air Nelson's general manager Darin Stringer. "When surveyed, more locals nominated Christchurch as the next destination of choice than all other possible destinations combined."
Paraparaumu is located approximately 55km north of the country's capital, Wellington.
Data from Flightglobal Pro shows that Air Nelson operates 23 Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 turboprops.
