Air Panama has contracted Fokker Services for landing gear overhauls of its Fokker 50 fleet.

The deal comes after the Dutch legacy aircraft support specialist launched a life extension programme for the turboprop's landing gear, increasing it from 60,000 to 72,000 flight cycles in May.

Air Panama operates two Fokker 50s, though it plans to replace its two Saab 340s with Fokker 50s in 2013. The Latin American carrier also employs the type as a successor to its ageing Fokker 27 freighters.
