Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia has confirmed that it will lease three Airbus A320 aircraft from China's ICBC Leasing.

It received the first A320 in January 2012 and will receive the second and third in the fourth quarter this year.

All three aircraft are for affiliates, which AirAsia did not name.

The length of the lease was not specified, although the carrier's chief executive Aireen Omar was quoted in a local media interview as saying that it will be a 12-year lease.

"Airbus didn't have the capacity to bring forward more aircraft to 2012 due to certain constraints," AirAsia adds.
