ICBC Leasing has closed the first of two Airbus A320 sale and leaseback transaction with AirAsia.

The aircraft, MSN 4557, is equipped with CFM56-5B6/3 engines. It was delivered to AirAsia last month and leased to Thai AirAsia.

The second aircraft is scheduled for March.

The operating leases under this mandate are 12 years.

Last month AirAsia mandated KfW IPEX-Bank for the financing of two upcoming A320 deliveries. The German bank is the arranger, agent and security trustee of a finance lease structure covering the two aircraft. Helaba is a participant on the debt tranche. The two aircraft, MSN 4571 and 4582, are equipped with CFM56-5B6/3 engines, and are scheduled for delivery later this year.

AirAsia says it has all 2011 A320 deliveries committed. The group has eight aircraft scheduled for delivery including four for its Malaysian operation, two for its Indonesian operation and the remaining two for its Thai operation.
