AirAsia X plans to begin a four times weekly Kuala Lumpur-Xian service on 2 July.

The low-cost carrier will deploy Airbus A330-300s to its fifth destination in China, it says.

Chief executive Azman Osman-Rani expects more than 1 million passengers will fly on its services from Kuala Lumpur to China this year, he adds.

FlightMaps Analytics shows that the airline will be the only operator on the Kuala Lumpur-Xian route.
