AirAsia is confirming it will operate to Paris following a visit to France by Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak.
The Kuala-Lumpur Paris service - believed to be to the French capital's second airport at Orly - will be operated by AirAsia's low-cost carrier AirAsia X and marks the airline's second venture into Europe after London Stansted.
AirAsia X had initially evaluated Nice in Southern France as its first French destination, but says it has "recalibrated" its strategy following the acquisition of Paris landing rights.
"The date for our launch to Paris will be decided upon completion of further discussions with the relevant officials," says AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman-Rani. We will work closely with the relevant authorities to make this flight a reality."
AirAsia X operates five Airbus A330s and has 33 aircraft on firm order: 23 Airbus A330-300s and 10 Airbus A350-900s.
