AirAsia's long-haul operation AirAsia X is suspending its Tianjin service.

"The Kuala Lumpur-Tianjin service will be suspended from November but we plan to resume it" in late January, says AirAsia X.

"We are suspending it because of adverse weather," says the airline.

Northern China's cold winter temperatures has made it hard for pilots to land and many passengers have had difficulties getting to the airport and have missed their flights, says the airline.

Tianjin is a port city about 25mins from Beijing by high-speed rail.

AirAsia X launched the five-times-weekly service on 2 April and chose Tianiin because it is a cheaper place to land than Beijing.
