Outstanding orders for seven Airbus single-aisle aircraft have been dropped from the backlog of Northwest Airlines, five years after the US carrier merged with Delta Air Lines.
The orders comprised five A319s and two A320s. Removal of the jets, revealed during Airbus's update of its orders for September 2013, clears the entire backlog of Northwest.
Delta Air Lines signed for 30 A321s during the month.
The changes drag orders for both the A319 and A318, the smallest members of the A320 family, into a net deficit for the current year.
Airbus had secured over 940 gross orders for the single-aisle family over the first three-quarters of this year. But the figures show a strong shift towards the larger types, with the A321 accounting for 45%.
