Airbus is expecting to deliver 18 A380s this year and secure orders for 10.
The airframer had originally planned to deliver 21 in 2009 under a schedule which had already been revised downwards.
Airbus CEO Tom Enders gave the figure of 18 deliveries at a briefing in Toulouse today.
The manufacturer's head of programmes, Tom Williams, says that the A380 production process is "a hell of a lot better than a couple of years ago". He admits there is "still work to do" but says the company is "on the right track".
Airbus delivered 12 A380s last year.
Chief operating officer for customers John Leahy says he expects orders for 10 A380s. Last year the airframer booked nine.
