Fresh from forging a memorandum of understanding with ILFC for 100 Airbus A32neo family aircraft, Airbus has sustained its relationship with Goodrich and selected the company to design the nacelle and thrust reverser for the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan powering the engines.
CFM International's Leap X engine has also been selected as an engine supplier on the A320neo family.
"This agreement represents an opportunity both to apply our innovative technology and to leverage our years of experience manufacturing and supporting the nacelle systems for the A320 family. Goodrich has been the nacelle system provider on the A320 family of aircraft since the program was launched in 1984," says Goodrich CEO Marshall Larsen.
Goodrich also states the new supplier agreement includes supplying engine build up for the geared turbofan and a variable area nozzle (VAN) for the nacelles. The VAN is a variable duct that manipulates the flow of fan air from the nacelle to contribute to fuel efficiency improvements.
Goodrich is also supplying the nacelle systems for the PW1000G engines powering the Bombardier CSeries and Mitsubishi Regional Jet.
