Aircell has divulged the extent of its staff reductions, saying 35 employees have been let go.

Last week Aircell disclosed that it had initiated employee layoffs to "right-size" the company, as it continues "very rapid growth in both installations and end user customers".

At that time Aircell did not provide further details.

In an exclusive interview with ATI and Flightglobal this morning, an Aircell spokesman confirmed that a total 35 employees were laid off, and that "no senior management" was affected.

However, as part of this restructuring, he says, some contract workers who were not Aircell employees "were also repositioned".

To date, Aircell has secured eight customers for its Gogo broadband Internet system, including full-domestic-fleet customers AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines and its merger partner Northwest Airlines, and Virgin America.
