Airmel Líneas Aéreas is to launch services next month with an ATR42-500 aircraft.
The Mellila-based regional carrier was formed by a consortium of companies including Grupo Meridional and Danish Air Transport and a group of businessmen in Melilla, one of two Spanish enclaves in North Africa.
It aims to offer public service transport for Melilla and to boost tourism.
Danish Air Transport, which operates a 15-aircraft fleet, will provide the first aircraft under a wet-lease contract.
The first route has been revealed as Melilla-Malaga.
