Airservices Australia will upgrade at least three air traffic control towers using technology provided by Nav Canada and Sensis Corporation.

Nav Canada and Sensis are partnering to design and deliver an integrated air traffic control (ATC) solution to provide controllers with immediate access to flight data and voice communications, and to monitor the airfield and surrounding airspace.

Flight data will be combined with operational data, surveillance and voice communications at airports in Melbourne, Adelaide and Rockhampton, as well as at Airservices Australia's Melbourne Air Traffic Centre and Learning Academy.

Under the agreement, Nav Canada will provide application software, system design, associated development and integration, testing and training.

Sensis will serve as the prime contractor responsible for engineering authority, project management, installation and support organization.

In addition, SolaCom Technologies is supplying a digital voice communications subsystem that will be incorporated directly into the flight information management system for air-to-ground and ground-to-ground communications.
