AJ Walter's AJW Technique has signed its first collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers representing employees at its maintenance, repair and overhaul centre in Montreal.
AJW Technique has grown its employee base to 70 people and plans to grow the team to more than 200 by the end of 2014.
The UK-based component specialist acquired the assets of Aveos Fleet Performance's component maintenance facility in September 2012 after the MRO went bankrupt and shut its doors on 19 March. The maintenance provider has scaled down the 22,000 ft2 (67,056 m2) facility that Aveos was using to 160,000ft2.
The repair facility is initially focusing on component work for Boeing 737, 747, Airbus A320 and A340 models, including fuel control units and fuel boost pumps.
