Alaska Airlines plans to add Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County, New Orleans International and Tampa International airports to its network in 2014.
The Seattle-based carrier will begin once daily flights from its Seattle Tacoma International hub to New Orleans from 12 June, Tampa from 20 June and Detroit from 4 September. All of the flights will be flown on Boeing 737 aircraft.
“This provides even more nonstop flights to the places Seattle needs to go, and further strengthens our growing U.S. route network,” says Joe Sprague, vice-president of marketing at Alaska, in a statement.
In addition, the carrier’s regional subsidiary Horizon Air will operate a new seasonal daily nonstop flight between Portland International and Kalispell, Montana, from 9 June to 23 August. The flight will be operated on a 76-seat Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft.
Delta Air Lines flies between Seattle and Detroit, but no carriers fly between Seattle and either New Orleans or Tampa, Innovata schedules show.
No airlines fly between Portland and Kalispell, according to Innovata.
