The board of directors at Alaska Air Group has approved a five-cent increase in its stock dividend, reflecting confidence in the airline’s financials.

The Seattle-based carrier will pay 25 cents per share to shareholders as of 25 February, on 11 March.

"This increased dividend reflects the board's confidence in our ability to sustain Alaska's financial performance," says Brad Tilden, chief executive of Alaska, in a statement.

Separately, the board approved the promotion of Herman Wacker to vice-president of legal, Shannon Alberts to corporate secretary and Kyle Levine to assistant corporate secretary.

Wacker was previously deputy general counsel and managing director of legal at Alaska. He joined the carrier in 2007.

Alberts was previously managing director of corporate affairs and assistant corporate secretary. She has been with Alaska for 28 years.

Levine retains his duties as deputy general counsel and managing director of legal, in addition to his new role. He joined Alaska in 2006.
