Alaska Airlines continues to increase operations in San Diego, unveiling today two new routes today to Boston and Lihue, Kauai.
The Seattle-based carrier will operate the daily non-stop to Boston starting on 29 March, followed by the launch of seasonal daily service to Kauai on 7 June.
The route to Boston will be the most competitive. It is already served with two daily non-stop flights by JetBlue.
Alaska's flight to Kauai is the first non-stop between San Diego and the Hawaiian island.
Alaska has been steadily increasing its presence in San Diego. Earlier this year, Alaska added non-stop service to Orlando, plus daily service to Fresno, Monterrey and Santa Rosa in California.
The build-up has turned San Diego into the carrier's sixth largest destination, in terms of number of routes flown and roughly on par with San Francisco.
