Alaska passenger traffic up 6.6% in May

Alaska Air Group reported a 6.6% increase in May passenger traffic, compared with the same month in 2012.

The group's capacity rose 6.6%, while load factor remained flat at 86%. Its passenger numbers grew 6.6% year-on-year to 2.3 million.

Alaska Airlines mainline traffic increased 6.7% and capacity climbed 7.3%. This resulted in a 0.4 point fall in load factor to 86.5%. The airline carried 1.67 million passengers, up 6.4% year-on-year.

Horizon Air's traffic rose 7.6% on a 2.5% increase in capacity. This resulted in a 3.7 points jump in load factor to 80.3%.

Horizon carried 595,000 passengers, which is 8.4% more than the same month last year.
