Alaska Air Group reported a 7.3% increase in August passenger traffic, compared with the same month in 2012.
The group's capacity rose 8%, while load factor decreased 0.6 percentage points to 87.8%. Its passenger numbers grew 6.3% year-on-year to 2.6 million.
Alaska Airlines' mainline revenue passenger miles and capacity increased by 8.1% and 9.2% respectively, resulting in a 0.9 percentage point decrease in load factor to 88%. The airline carried 1.9 million passengers, up 7.9% year-on-year.
Horizon Air's revenue passenger miles rose 0.8% on a 2.5% decrease in capacity. This resulted in a 2.8 percentage point jump in load factor to 85.5%.
Horizon carried 654,000 passengers, up 2.8% year-on-year.
