Alaska passenger traffic up 9.5% in March

Alaska Air Group reported a 9.5% increase in March passenger traffic, compared with the same month in 2012.

The group's capacity rose 9.7%, while the load factor decreased 0.2 percentage points to 87.7%. Its passenger numbers grew 5.7% year-on-year to 2.33 million.

Alaska Airlines mainline has reported a 10.1% increase in traffic against 10.9% growth in capacity. This resulted in a 0.6 percentage point fall in load factor to 88.3%. The airline carried 1.68 million passengers, which is up 6.4% in March.

Horizon Air's traffic rose by 6.2% on a 2.9% increase in capacity. This resulted in a 2.5 percentage point jump in load factor to 80.9%.

Horizon carried 602,000 passengers, which is 5.4% more than the same month last year.
