Alaska traffic up 10.3 % in June

Alaska Air Group has reported a 10.3% rise in traffic year-on-year in June.

The group's capacity rose 7.4% to 2.8 million available seat miles (ASM) compared to June 2011, while its load factor increased 2.3 percentage points to 87.1%. It carried 2.3 million passengers, a 6% increase y-o-y, during the month.

The results include flights operated by Alaska Airlines and those under capacity purchase agreements with wholly-owned Horizon Air as well as PenAir and SkyWest.

Alaska reported a 10.6% increase y-o-y in mainline traffic in June.

The airline's capacity rose 7.5% y-o-y, while the load factor increased 2.5 percentage points to 87.9%. It carried 1.7 million passengers, a 5.8% increase y-o-y.

Horizon Air's traffic grew 5.2% y-o-y in June, while capacity was up 3.6% y-o-y during the period.

The regional airline's load factor grew 1.2 percentage points to 79% in June. It carried 583,000 passengers, up 4.7% y-o-y.
