Alaska traffic up 11.5% in January

Alaska Air Group has reported an 11.5% increase in passenger traffic in January compared to the same month in 2012.

The group's capacity rose 11.4% for the reporting month, resulting in a 0.1 percentage point increase in load factor to a record of 82.7%. Passenger numbers grew 9.1% year-on-year to 2.07 million.

Alaska Airlines mainline reported an 11.8% increase in traffic against 12.2% growth in capacity during the accounting month. This resulted in a 0.2 percentage point decline in load factor to 83.4%.

The airline carried 1.48 million passengers, up 9.2% from a year ago.
