Alaska traffic up 6% in February

Alaska Air Group has reported a 6% increase in passenger traffic in February compared to the same month in 2012.

The group's capacity rose 4.8% for the reporting month, resulting in a 1.1 percentage point increase in load factor to a record of 84.8%. Passenger numbers grew 2.7% year-on-year to 1.95 million.

Alaska Airlines mainline reported an 6.2% increase in traffic against 5.4% growth in capacity during the accounting month. This resulted in a 0.6 percentage point growth in load factor to 85.1%.

The airline carried 1.38 million passengers, up 2.6% from a year ago.
