Alaska traffic up 7.8% in August

Alaska Air Group has reported a 7.8% year-on-year increase in traffic in August.

The group carried 2.45 million passengers during the month, which is up 3.8% compared with the same month last year.

Capacity rose 7.1%, while its load factor increased 0.6 percentage points to 88.4%.

The results include flights operated by Alaska Airlines and those under capacity purchase agreements with wholly-owned Horizon Air as well as PenAir and SkyWest.

Alaska reported an 8.1% increase year-on-year in mainline traffic in August.

The mainline carrier's capacity rose 7.4%, while the load factor increased 0.6 percentage points to 88.9%. It carried 1.76 million passengers, which is a 3.4% increase.

Horizon Air's traffic and capacity each grew 5.2% year-on-year in August.

The regional airline's load factor grew 0.1 percentage points to 83.1% in August. It carried 636,000 passengers, which is up 4.3% year-on-year.
