Alaska traffic up 8.1 % in December

Alaska Air Group has reported an 8.1% increase in traffic in December compared to the same month in 2011.

The group's capacity rose 9% for the month, while the load factor decreased 0.7 percentage points to 85.7%. Passenger numbers grew 4.2% year-on-year to 2.18 million.

Alaska Airlines mainline reported an 8.4% increase in traffic and and a 9.9% increase in capacity during the month, while the load factor declined 1.1 percentage points to 86.3%.

Horizon Air's traffic increased by 5.3%, while capacity grew by 4.6% in December. The regional airline's load factor grew 0.7 percentage points to a record of 79.4%.
