Air Lease Corp (ALC) has converted reconfirmation rights on five Boeing 737 Max to firm orders, raising the lessor's total orderbook for the re-engined single-aisle to 80, Boeing dislcoses today in a weekly orders and deliveries update.

The move comes seven months after ALC announced an order for 75 737 Max at the Farnborough airshow. The order included reconfirmation rights for another 25 of the 737 Max type, which now reduced to 20 with the latest conversion, Boeing says.

ALC was not immediately available to comment.

Boeing also has a backlog 72 unfilled orders by ALC for the 737-800, excluding three aircraft already delivered.

The ALC order raises Boeing's firm order backlog for the 737 Max by all customers to 1,185.
