UTair Aviation has closed its first refinancing transaction for Mil Mi-26T heavy-lift helicopters.
The group concluded a deal to refinance the purchase of four Mil Mi-26T helicopters with Alfa-Leasing. Alfa-Bank provided the loan, says UTair.
"The deal with Alfa-Leasing is significant because even though the airline has been working on the aircraft leasing market for many years, this is our first refinancing project for the Mi-26T, a unique and much sought after helicopter in the Russian oil and gas industry," says UTair Aviation chief financial officer Igor Petrov.
UTair and Alfa-Leasing plan further collaboration on financing for the purchase of Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft as well as additional Mil and Eurocopter helicopters.
The Russian carrier placed an order for 33 737-800s and seven 737-900ERs at the 2011 Paris air show.
