Allegiant Air’s expansion at Florida continues, with the carrier announcing it will begin flying from Cincinnati, Ohio to both Orlando and Punta Gorda in February.
The Las Vegas-based carrier says in a media release that both routes will operate twice weekly, with the service to Orlando Sanford International airport beginning 12 February and the service to Punta Gorda airport starting 14 February.
Allegiant’s Cincinnati-Orlando service will compete with Delta Air Lines, which this winter will fly from Cincinnati to Orlando International airport three times daily, according to flight schedules.
No other carriers serve Punta Gorda, but Delta flies from Cincinnati to both Fort Myers and Tampa, which are 45km (28m) and 111km from Punta Gorda, respectively.
Allegiant’s new Cincinnati flights will further expand the carrier’s presence in the Sunshine State. Allegiant announced in August plans to launch an additional 16 new routes to Florida between 25 October and 20 December.
