Allegiant Air plans to significantly widen its recent expansion into the Florida market, says president Andrew Levy.
The Las Vegas-based company launched 16 new routes from Florida between October and December, adding 10 new cities to its route map.
More routes could be added this year. Allegiant now expects that half of its fleet capacity will be assigned to Florida bases by mid-year, Levy says.
“Florida is continuing to show greater strength and we continue to put more chips on Florida,” he says.
The emphasis on the Florida travel market has rapidly redrawn Allegiant’s network away from the western half of the USA.
“Only two to three years ago the network was more biased to Las Vegas and Phoenix,” Levy says.
