Allegiant Air will inaugurate new, nonstop service from 12 destinations this year.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant declined to identify its new market until tomorrow, but local media outlets have reported it will be the Los Angeles area, likely Los Angeles International airport.
The leisure carrier says in a statement that it will link a "new sunny vacation destination" with its Bellingham, Washington base Billings and Missoula, Montana Des Moines, Iowa Fargo, North Dakota Grand Junction, Colorado McAllen, Texas Medford, Oregon Monterey, California Sioux Falls, South Dakota Springfield, Missouri Wichita, Kansans.
However, Allegiant demurred on interest in Los Angeles.
"We have not announced any LAX-related service. We will announce a new destination tomorrow with full details," an Allegiant spokeswoman says.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles airport says he was unfamiliar with Allegiant plans.
