Private equity firm Alterna Capital Partners is prepared to commit a further $100 million of equity into the commercial aviation sector this year, according to Earle Goldin, a partner at the firm.
The company will invest in transactions in partnership with Arena Aviation Capital, a newly formed aircraft investment management company set up by industry veterans Patrick den Elzen, Erik Dahmen and Diederik Lindhout.
“We look forward to working with Arena to further develop our aircraft investment activities as we expand our portfolio. We expect Arena to have 100 aircraft under management by 2018,” says Goldin.
Arena’s focus is on acquiring and leasing mid-life and older commercial aviation assets for institutional investors and high-net worth individuals. Its technical and lease management services will be exclusively provided through SGI Aviation, the aircraft and engines technical consulting and advisory services company.
