Helicopter lessor Waypoint Leasing named Oliver Althoff, former director of transportation lending at CIT Group, as managing director of capital markets and treasury, effective 11 November.

Althoff will be responsible for leading the development and execution of Waypoint’s debt financing strategy and the management of the treasury function, according to the lessor.

Alan Jenkins, chief financial officer of Waypoint, says: "We are thrilled to welcome Oliver to the Waypoint team. He brings unique expertise and a breadth of experience from CIT Group, including financing helicopter and aviation operators."

Althoff has worked in a variety of senior roles at CIT Group during the last seven years, most recently as a director of its transportation lending group. In that role, he originated and closed over $1.4 billion in cash-flow, asset-based and structured asset financings.

Prior to joining CIT Group, he spent two years at GE Capital in various corporate lending positions as part of GE’s post-MBA commercial leadership programme.
