MRO specialist Ameco Beijing says it has boosted efficiency and intends to expand its VIP completion capabilities.
The joint venture between Air China and Lufthansa has improved turnaround times for aircraft overhauls by around 10% through departmental reorganisations over the last two years, it says.
Its efforts have involved around 100 projects – some of which have led to patents – focusing on new services, lean production, IT infrastructure and “product-oriented management systems”.
Ameco claims to have set a benchmark for turnaround times with a “significant structure modification” for a Middle Eastern customer.
The maintenance provider is one of four selected by Airbus to complete the wing-rib fix for the in-service A380 fleet, the others being Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies, Airbus's freighter conversion subsidiary EFW, and Sabena Technics.
Ameco has been expanding its VIP completion capabilities since 2012. They span the full range of services from initial cabin design to engineering and certification of interior equipment and installation. The MRO provider bills itself as “good at integrating the Chinese elements into the details of [the interior] design”.
It wants to initially focus on Chinese VIP completion customers, but later also bid for international clients.
