American Airlines and AerCap received permission from the US bankruptcy court for the southern district of New York to close a previously approved sale and leaseback deal for a Boeing 737-800 on 13 August.

The aircraft, which is registration N899NN and manufacturer's serial number 31151, will be delivered on or before 17 August, according to a court filing.

AerCap is understood to finance the 737-800 with cash and unsecured debt on its balance sheet.

The lessor's subsidiary SkyFunding MSN 31151 will own the aircraft and Wells Fargo is the trustee.

American and AerCap signed a sale and leaseback agreement for 35 737-800s in July 2011. The lessor is funding each aircraft individually upon delivery while the airline operates under chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
