American Airlines and Avolon Aerospace Leasing are seeking court approval for a sale and leaseback (SLB) of two Boeing 737-800s, complementing their existing deal for five of the type.
The aircraft, which are manufacturer's serial number 33323 and 33233, are scheduled for delivery this October and in January 2014, according to a US bankruptcy court filing on 1 May. A hearing is scheduled for 30 May.
Avolon is likely to finance the aircraft either on balance sheet or from existing debt facilities, as it has with aircraft delivered under its previous SLB with Fort Worth, Texas-based American.
American and Avolon entered a SLB for five 737-800s and one Boeing 777-300ER in October 2012 that was subsequently approved by the court.
Wells Fargo is the trustee of the new SLB. SkyWorks Capital advised American on the deal.
