American Airlines and International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) have received approval to close their latest sale-leaseback of a Boeing 737-800 from the bankruptcy court.

The US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved the deal for the aircraft, which is registered N901NN and manufacturer's serial number 33226, on 5 September, according to court filings.

ILFC is understood to finance the aircraft on balance sheet through the proceeds of its existing unsecured debt facilities.

Wilmington Trust is the trustee.

American and ILFC signed the sale-leaseback deal for 15 737-800s in November 2011, shortly before the carrier filed for bankruptcy protection.
