American Airlines-parent AMR reports a $14 million operation profit in April, down from $91 million a month earlier.

Operating revenues were $1.99 billion and operating expenses $1.98 billion, according to a stock exchange filing today.

Fort Worth-based American posted a net loss of $105 million after $66 million in reorganisation charges during the month.

Cash and short-term investments were up 4.2% to $4.42 billion and long-term debt and capital leases less current maturities were up less than 1% to $7.09 billion.
